Our purpose

Useful guidance.
Considered decisions.

Midwest Accounting Exit is an educational resource for owners and buyers of accounting, tax, bookkeeping, and CPA firms across the twelve Midwest states. It is built around the questions that determine whether a transaction works: transferable earnings, client retention, staff capacity, deal structure, and the transition.

Who is behind the site?

Jason Taken is a Business Advisor with HedgeStone Business Advisors, a nationwide business brokerage and M&A advisory firm. He also owns Jaken Finance Group, a commercial private lending business.

How should you use the guidance?

Start with the seller or buyer path. Use the deeper guides to test assumptions and identify the documents and questions needed for your situation. Numerical examples are labeled as illustrative; they are not records of completed client deals. Sources link to the underlying rules and published guidance.

State licensing, tax information disclosure, financing, and tax treatment depend on the transaction. Work with your own CPA, attorney, licensing authority, and lender to apply the guidance to a proposed sale.

What is the next step?

Book an intro call with Jason Taken to discuss your firm, acquisition goals, and the questions that matter for your next decision.
